BIOGRAPHY
Peregrin ‘Pippin’ Took is the youngest of four siblings to Paladin Took & Eglantine Banks. Cousins with Merry, due to him being the son of Paladin’s sister, Esmeralda Brandybuck, and Frodo’s 2nd cousin once removed. He is the youngest of the four Hobbits. He is eight years younger than Merry, making him much younger than Frodo.
At the beginning of the Quest, he was smaller than the rest of the Hobbits. But after he and Merry drank the draft from Treebeard, they became some of the tallest Hobbits in history, towering at over four and a half feet.
Pippin lived in the Shire for his whole life, and never set foot outside the Shire’s boundaries. You would often see him, with Merry, causing trouble (though not instigated by him, but by Merry).
The high-spirit, practical-joker and sweet-natured character of Pippin also has a naïve, cheerful, though sometimes thoughtless personality. The hair on his head and feet (which were exceptionally hairy, even for a Hobbit) was almost golden and hairy.

Pippin, the least prepared for the journey, had a knack for doing the wrong thing at the wrong time, which caused troubles along the way. The most notable, in Moria Pippin twisted an arrow that was imbedded into the skeleton of Ori, which then sent it tumbling down an old Dwarven well. A few minutes later, they were ambushed with Goblins and a Cave-troll. Although, it was Pippin who distracted the Cave-troll by plunging his sword in the troll’s neck long enough for Legolas to shoot the Cave-troll with two arrows through the neck into its head.
He had an Elf sword which was given to him by Aragorn. He also had an Elven belt and cloak by the Lady Galadriel.
While at the Battle of Amon Hen, Pippin, along with Merry, were captured by Uruk-hai (as they thought they had the One Ring), who were marching towards Isengard to give Saruman the White, the One Ring. While in captivity, Pippin bit off the Elven brooch from his cloak, given to him in Lórien, as a signal for Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli. They finally escaped in Fangorn Forest. Later, he was in the Battle upon Isengard.
When the Company arrived at Isengard, Wormtongue threw down the Palantir from the spire of Orthanc. Which Pippin picked up. Later that evening, Pippin’s curiosity took the better of him, making him want to look into the Palantir again. He had a terrifying encounter with Sauron himself, leading to assume that Pippin was the Ringbearer. As a result, Gandalf had to take Pippin to Minas Tirith.

Upon meeting Denethor, the Steward of Gondor, Pippin pledged allegiance to repay him for the death of his son, Boromir, who died protecting the Hobbits at Amon Hen. Denethor then made him one of the elite Guards at the Citadel.
At the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, Pippin was the one to find his paralyzed friend, Merry. And it was also Pippin who ran to fetch Gandalf, when Denethor was trying to burn himself and his son, Faramir, alive.
He was part of the Army of the West that went to take on Mordor, before Frodo and Sam destroyed the One Ring.
In the year FO 13, Pippin became the 32nd Thain of the Shire, a position he held for 50 years before retiring in FO 63, when he revisited Rohan and Gondor with Merry. He remained in Gondor for the remainder of his life
When Pippin died, he was laid to rest with Merry in Gondor. After the great King Elessar (Aragorn) died in FO 120, the two Hobbits were entombed next to the great king
