QUICK BIO
BIOGRAPHY
The King of Mirkwood, has golden hair, wears a crown of leaves, flowers, or berries. Dresses in green and brown, and wears a jeweled collar or belt. He carries an oak staff.
This old, powerful and cunning warrior rides on a giant moose. Thranduil has fought many battles, and also knows how to throw a decent party.
He isn’t scared of the fearsome monsters that lurk in the shadows of Mirkwood, and if it wasn’t for the Wood Elves (sent out by Thranduil) Thorin and his Company would’ve died in Mirkwood.

Like most Elves, he isn’t a fan of Dwarves. Instead, once Thorin and Co. are captured he locks them up, and then tries to bribe Thorin. He mentions that he has encountered dragons before and reveals a massive scar on his face caused by a dragon, which he then heals or magically conceals instantly by force of will. Thorin denies him, so he orders the guards to lock him and the rest of the Company up in the cells until Thorin is ready to barter
It was with one of Thranduil’s celebrations, that Bilbo is given the perfect chance to free his friends and escape Mirkwood in barrels.
Back before Thorin and Co. set out for the Lonely Mountain, Erebor was discovered by the dragon Smaug. Thranduil saw the Dwarves fleeing from their homeland but turned his back on them. This is partially because he tried to barter with Thráin for jewels in payment of their protection.

Upon Smaug’s death, the Elvenking leads an army to claim the presumably unguarded hoard, but stops first to aid the people of Lake-town when he learns how desperate they are. With Men led by Bard, his Elves besiege the Thorin in the Lonely Mountain, though he is reluctant to actually engage the Dwarves in battle. His people fight valiantly against the Goblins in the Battle of Five Armies. After the battle, the Elvenking lays Thorin’s sword on his tomb. Bard gives him an emerald necklace, Bilbo gives him a pearl necklace, and he names Bilbo an “Elf-friend”.
