DEAGOL Portrayed by Thomas Robbins
Thomas Robbins, New Zealand actor and original host of Squirt, a children’s television series, plays the Hobbit Déagol.
Deagol is a Stoor-Hobbit of the Gladden Fields, born sometime between TA 2400 and TA 2430. He lived in a small community bound by kinship ties. Déagol is the cousing and best friend to Sméagol, until the discovery of the One Ring. One day while out fishing, Déagol stumbled across the One Ring, which made him the third bearer, after Sauron and Isildur. After seeing this Ring, Sméagol wanted it for himself, being his birthday he expected it to be a gift. Déagol refused to give it up, and therefore was strangled to death by Sméagol. It’s possible that the Ring has already affected Déagol, and that’s why he didn’t want to give it up. The Lord of the Rings isn’t the only PJ film that Thomas has been in, he was in Forgotten Silver (Colin McKenzie), The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (The Young Thráin II) and King Kong (Uncredited Cameo as a New York Theater Goer) |
