"HE SAID HE'S AN EXPERT! HEY HEY!"
QUICK BIO
BIOGRAPHY
Oin, son of Groin and brother to Gloin, is a distant cousin to Thorin and a direct descendant of Nain II, one of the kings of Durin’s folk, and he comes from the North.
Oin is the Companys healer due to his high level of knowledge in medicine, and is possibly the inventor of the word ointment. Oin is also an expert in the use of tinder and flints, and becomes the acknowledged fire lighter of the Company, and becomes responsible for the Dwarves’ campfires.
Oin has acted as a midwife on rare occasions on which Dwarf-children are born. It is said that he may be the reason for Gimli’s daftness, having dropped him on the head when he was born.
Alongside Balin, Oin is the oldest in the Company. Despite his vulnerable age, he can still lay about him to brutal effect with his iron-shod staff, and he has picked up many a cunning fighting trick in his time, and forgotten many more.

Oin joined The Quest because of his loyalties to Dwarves in general, and the other reason he wants the Company to succeed is because he has invested a substantial amount of money into it.
Oin is extremely canny with money, erudite and well-read, brave and clever. And the others often refer to him as ‘The Apotherapy’
Oin carries on him a considerable collection of plants and herbal remedies. He also carries an ear trumpet as he is hard of hearing, but due to the unfortunate run in with the Goblins in the Goblin-tunnels, it gets trodden on. Fortunately, after their escape, he mostly manages to bend it back into its original shape.
Due to his experiences in medication, he opts to stay with Kili and tend to his injury. After seeing Tauriel heal Kili, Oin is in awe of her Elvish healing power.
In 2989 T.A., Oin accompanies Balin’s party to reclaim Moria. He is sadly killed by the Watcher in the Water outside the gate of Moria.
