"HEREIN LIES THE SEVENTH KINGDOM OF DURIN'S FOLK. MAY THE HEART OF THE MOUNTAIN UNITE ALL DWARVES IN DEFENSE OF THIS HOME"
QUICK BIO
BIOGRAPHY
Father to Gimli and brothers with Oin, Gloin comes from the North. He is also a distant cousin to Thorin. Like his brother, he is a direct descendant of Nain II, one of the kings of Durin’s folk. Gloin is also the only married Dwarf in the Company. He carries around with him a locket that has a portrait of his son and wife inside. When captured by the Elves in Mirkwood, Legolas mistakes Gloins wife to be his brother, and his son to be an Goblin mutant
When you think of a Dwarf, Gloin is a prime example. He has a beard almost as large and wild as his temper. He’s blunt. He’s more likely to think before acting, and he is one of the strongest and bravest of Thorin’s Company. He also likes to challenge those in charge, no matter the consequence.

He is the elder statesman and spokesman. Gloin considers himself something of a diplomat. He is also rather outspoken, even pugnaciously opinionated and can be rather mean with money.
As Dwarves are aware of the value of things, he takes this trait and renders it an art form. As a result, he is perfect at The Company’s Treasurer, a responsibility he takes very seriously. He carries with him at all times a finely crafted abacus, each bead of which is carved with Dwarvish runes, and by means of this, tallies up the groups finances, their revenues (from toy-making and selling) and their outgoings. Perhaps it is partly because of these preoccupations that Gloin is suspicious of everyone and everything (but particularly Elves and wizards)
Gloin joined the Company through his sense of loyalty to Dwarves in general.

Like his brother, Oin, he is an expert in the use of tinder and flints, and is also acknowledged as the fire lighter of the Company.
Gloin carries around with him a massive battle-axe, which he inherited from his father, Gróin, and this is the same axe that gets passed down to Gimli.
Gloin fought in and survived The Battle of the Five Armies
Gloin died a natural death, which makes him and Dwalin, the only ones to do so.
