"He is the older brother of Kili. And Kili and Fili make up the younger Dwarves that are part of the entourage."
QUICK BIO
BIOGRAPHY
Son of Vicky and Lance O’Gorman, and brother to Brett (whose also an actor as well as a comedian). Dean O’Gorman is of Irish descent. In his earlier years he attended Rangitoto College and became best friends with Chris McDowell, who also appeared on Hercules.
It wasn’t until he was 12 when he was on stage during a school speech competition that he was noticed by a casting agent.
At the ripe age of 10, he earned a black belt in karate. And at 14, he starred in the TV movie The Rogue Stallion (1990).
Acting wasn’t the first job that he thought of. O’Gorman possessed plans to study Graphic Design.
He has done various TV appearances such as Serial Killers (2004), McLeod’s Daughters (2004-2005), Legend of the Seeker (2009) and Shortland Street (1992). He had the realization that The Hobbit was much bigger than he anticipated on his first day of shooting. His most notable TV role was playing Anders Johnson in The Almighty Johnsons (2011-2013).

Dean O’Gorman replaced English actor, Rob Kazinsky, in the role of Fili for personal reasons. He says that the audition went so fast ““On a Wednesday night I was auditioning, the following Monday I was standing on Aidan Turners shoulders trying to hit a Troll in the face with an axe”
He was faced with many challenges such as fitness training, voice coaching, movement coaching, having to get use to the costume, his prosthetics and handing swords. But his biggest challenge was coming to terms with the scale of the production, the huge sets and the enormous number of people. O’Gorman felt like he was in the middle of royalty with the likes of Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Peter Jackson and Sir Richard Taylor.
Along with acting, Dean O’Gorman is a passionate artist and photographer, and has had many exhibits be showcased.
